Guernsey Arts Open - George Crossan Gallery

This exhibition is a celebration of local talent and variety in the arts on Guernsey. Situated in the George Crossan Gallery on a mezzanine level overlooking the old market. The work entered was a part of my previous exhibition, ‘A Journey To The End’. A great chance to rework the piece within a different setting.

A Journey To The End - Greenhouse Gallery

It’s all about the act of ‘play’ and embracing the speculatory.

The exhibition space is a unique hexagonal shape, for which I wanted to explore and utilise. The idea was to create two structures on either side of the gallery that influence each other. As the two components are in direct opposition. This creates engagement and a sense of travel or a journey across the gallery space.

The first component is called 'A Point of Beginning'. This structure conveys a starting point, almost a spark of creation, using light and shapes to express heat and maybe inertia. The second part is called 'An Ending', a threshold where that initial spark ceases to exist. Made from plywood, giving me the flexibility to construct a large void like form. Fabricated Incrementally and proportionally - large to small.

I would like to thank Guernsey Arts and the foundation for sponsoring the show.

‘New Life’ - Gate House Gallery

Inspired by the sights and smells of spring, I would like to capture the essence of ‘New Life’. Through pigment/wax and geometric shapes to create a sculpture that’s simplistic yet vibrant. This sculpture is intended to convey a pod like form based on the central part of a seed or flower. With the legs representing a tendril or root. Taking inspiration from natural botanical structures and shapes.
